is a Toronto-based writer and filmmaker whose work is defined by a distinctive gothic atmosphere, whimsical nostalgia, and a deeply feminine lens. Since childhood, she has been drawn to encapsulating her imagination using her dad’s camcorder to create films with her toys. Over the years, she has developed a cinematic style that threads together softness, whimsy, and romanticism.
She began her formal training at St. Roch Secondary School, where she graduated with a Regional Arts Diploma in Media & Communication. she built a foundation in editing, directing, photography, and animation, discovering that filmmaking was not simply a passion but her primary way of expressing her experience of life.
After a couple years of independently producing short films, documentaries, and music videos — including a notable project for Wax Records artist Aidan Skira — Julia pursued further education at George Brown College in Video Design & Production. The program strengthened her craft through hands-on study in cinematography, production design, scriptwriting, VFX, and directing, while also shaping her approach to collaboration and leadership on set.
Julia has dedicated the past decade to cultivating her craft, consistently self-producing projects that showcase her command of every element of filmmaking: story architecture, cinematography, editing, and world-building. Her portfolio reflects not a series of isolated works, but a cohesive body of films tied together by her distinct artistic voice and vision.
